Chobe Marina Lodge - September 2

The Chobe Marina Lodge is a beautifully open lodge nestled in lush vegetation on the shores of the Chobe River. The main building has lovely open living and dining areas and bar that overlook a beautiful pool in a rain forest like setting. After checking in to our delightfully comfortable two-room suite with decks over-looking the Chobe River and mosquito netting over the beds, we returned to the main dining room for a delicious native lunch and bottle of Rustenberg Brampton Savignon Blanc (which we had enjoyed during our tasting tour in Stellenbosch). We walked into Kasane, the rather primitive town where our lodge is located, to cash a traveler's check at Barclays Bank. Note-to-self - NEVER bring traveler's checks to Africa as they are a complete hassle to cash. After 30 minutes, Hilary finally got her's cashed in time to engage in some quick negotiating for baskets and bowls at the native market before heading out on our first safari drive in the Chobe National Park, located just fifteen minutes from our lodge.
