Out of Africa Flight to the Okavango Delta - September 4

Our Sefofane Air charter on a Cessna Grand Caravan from Kasane to Jao Reserve in the Okavango Delta was an "Out of Africa" deja vu! We could almost hear the sound track as we flew over herds of elephants and the waterways and flood plains of the Okavango Delta, the world's largest inland delta. We made two stops on our 1:45 minute flight to drop off safari goers at two camps before landing at Jao Reserve airstrip! Timothy, our marvelous Jacana Camp guide and his colleague Cedric, were waiting our arrival in a 4x4 complete with zebra and red lechwe as a backdrop! We had a short ride in the 4x4 to the boat launch that would take us through the channels created by hippos to our magnificent island Jacana Camp where the entire staff greeted us with song. Our hosts Dominique and Clinton were on deck to greet us with a colorful liqueur - a harbinger of the unbelievable hospitality that would be ours during three days at Jacana Camp, a classic wilderness camp situated on a beautiful riverine island in the Jao Reserve, a 605 square kilometer private concession bordering Moremi Game Reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta.
