Stormy Stellenbosch - August 30

After a lazy morning with the hotel's full African breakfast and a 10:30am tasting of Lanzerac wines, we headed into town for a shopping spree. The intermittent rain storms certainly didn't dampen our retail spirit! A very productive shopping trip resulted in the purchase of numerous African treasures and gifts, including a magnificent ceramic African giraffe that was shipped back to the States and awaiting our return at my front door eight days later! Wijnhuis was a delightful setting for lunch with another fine bottle of South African wine. Hilary and I enjoyed 5pm massages at the spa which were preceded by time in the spa's wet area. The weather became so extreme that we changed our plans to go off property for dinner and opted to eat in the Lanzerac Governor's Dining Room for a last evening feast in South Africa. We knew turning in early would be a good move with Andrew picking us up at 5:30am to transport us to the Cape Town airport for our flight to Livingstone, Zambia via Johannesburg. Good nite and good bye South Africa!
