Jacana Camp - September 4

Situated just outside the Moremi Game Reserve, Jacana Camp is set in one of the most densely populated areas for the beautiful red lechwe, sitatunga antelope and abundant birdlife. Big game is also found in the area, depending on water levels, such as elephant , leopard, cape buffalo, wildebeast and lions. Jacana is home to two elephants named Jack and Barrack who roam the camp, especially late night and early morning. Jacana is a true water camp, offering mokoro (dugout canoes) and power boat safari and well as 4x4 game drives. Accomodation is in five Meru-style tents, each raised on a wooden deck with wonderful views of the Okavango Delta floodplains. The en-suite bathroom is enclosed but roofless. The main dining area is on the second-floor thatched roof wooded deck between two enormous sycamore trees, and surrounded by dense wild date palms. A small library is on a mid-level landing between the two main floors. Downstairs in the main house, there is a cozy pub, lounge and living area, with a large viewing deck, and an open area to sit around the fire under the brightest and biggest stars you'll ever see! At the time of our visit, there were seven guests being cared for by twenty staff. We are fed four times a day - early breakfast before the morning drives, huge brunch, mid afternoon tea before the afternoon water excursions, and magnificent dinners flanked by cocktails and after-dinner drinks around the bonfire. And of course, we can't forget the "sundowners" which is African cocktail hour held enroute during the afternoon excursions as the sun is setting on the Delta. Can you say spoiled?
